Coworking on Purpose

Client: ReCity Network

About this Project

Durham, N.C. is a city on the rise, consistently making national lists of great places to live and do business. But like many growing communities, prosperity is rarely distributed equally. In 2017, a group of local leaders asked the question: What would it look like if the whole community came together to solve it’s toughest challenges? Their answer—The ReCity Network.

On the surface it may look like just another coworking space, but ReCity intentionally curates its members from non-profits, mission-driven businesses and faith groups. Their goal is not just to create offices, but to create a space for connection and social impact.

This project was special for us because Root Media is a ReCity partner, and their space is Root Media HQ. Turning our cameras towards home was a great experience. Through our lenses we got to know people and organizations that previously were just casual acquaintances. There is great work happening at ReCity and Durham is a better city for it.

Audience-Specific Social Shorts

ReCity partners fall into one of three categories: non-profits, mission-driven businesses and faith groups. Since each group represents a unique audience with unique concerns, and we had a ton of great footage from filming the main video, we proposed the idea of creating a series of short, social-focused videos that targeted each audience. ReCity loved the idea and felt that it would give them more content and strengthen their overall marketing goals.
